Codependent's Bill of Rights

  1. You have the right to talk about your needs and ask to have your needs met.
  2. You have the right to express your anger in a respectful way and to have the anger be recognized.
  3. You have the right to set limits on what you will tolerate from others.
  4. You have the right to experience sudden powerful memories and feelings without apologizing for them.
  5. You have the right to pursue and embrace spirituality in your own way.
  6. You have the right and the obligation to pursue your own personal calling in life and to set your own goals.
  7. You have the right to cherish yourself and your dreams and to live free from abuse.
  8. You have the right to refuse to take care of other adults.
  9. You have the right to seek fulfilling relationships and to leave behind those who are abusive or do not recognize your value as a person.
